From zebra to giraffe, the large mammal assemblages of east Africa provide fascinating systems in which  explore the interface of population ecology and spatial ecology in dynamic environments. I am most keenly interested in examining the individual-to-population level responses to changes in the environment - from seasonal variation in resource distribution to large scale human-driven disturbances- and exploring how an understanding of these interactions might be used to craft creative and meaningful conservation strategy. I am driven by applied problems addressing conservation issues with approaches rooted in multidisciplinary understanding across scales.
